Hey everyone! This is my first monthly wrap up, so I hope you enjoy! I’m aiming to read 80 books this year, and so far I’ve managed to read 7 books! Woohoo! Some of the books have been AMAZING but others were…disappointing.
A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
Gilded Cage by Vic James
Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton
How to Stop Time by Matt Haig
The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
City of Glass by Cassandra Clarke
So my favourite book out of this beautiful bunch? It’s a tough one – I really can’t decide between Traitor to the Throne or How to Stop Time! So I going to have to pick both! Traitor to the Throne was an epic adventure; non-stop action. Definitely didn’t want to put this book down, check out my full review here. How to Stop Time was magical and broke my heart constantly. It was another book I couldn’t put down. 100% fully engrossed with Matt Haig’s words, he is a genius and a beautiful storyteller.
My disappointing unfortunately is Gilded Cage. I expected so much more from it and it just didn’t deliver. I was hoping it was going to get exciting but sadly no. You can also check out my full review here!
I’ve decided every month I want to read as many classic books as I can. This month I read A Study in Scarlet, a good book and quite funny at times. I kept imaging Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock throughout the book because who doesn’t love Benedict as Sherlock?! It was my first Sherlock book and I really did love it! It has made me want to read the others. My second was the Phantom of the Opera. I borrowed this off a friend (hence why it’s not in the picture). I did enjoy it, though at times it dragged and couldn’t follow most of what is going on which made it difficult to read. But overall it was alright.
Have you read any of these books? If so, what are your thoughts on them? Can’t wait to read your wrap up!
