June Wrap Up

Hello, my bookish pals!

I hope you all have had a successful month of reading!

This month I started my new job. I was terrified! I’ve moved from catering/hospitality to admin, so far it has been really enjoyable and I have met some lovely people. I managed to read 8 books this month which I’m really impressed with!

Ace of Shades (The Shadow Game, #1)
2/5*

I wasn’t impressed with ‘Ace of Shades’. I disliked both of the main characters as I didn’t feel there was much depth to either of them. Plus everything felt so massively forced. You can read my full review here.

A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3.1)
5/5*

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. Not one for novella’s but I really love this series, so I had to get a copy. I knew people were put off because it’s about 230 pages and I was too at first. I also refused to pay Β£7.99 but managed to only pay Β£4.00 on Amazon. Another thing I heard was the plot was boring. I disagree. I liked that there was less action. A Court of Wings and Ruin was so action filled it was nice to have something calmer. I’m really excited to see where the next book goes.

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)
4/5*

Okay, let me just say – WOW. Everyone one in the bookish community has been banging on about Darkdawn. I had to see what the hype was about. (This was also the first book I have borrowed from the library in years!) I didn’t connect with the story at first and I thought the writing style was odd. The footnotes were massively annoying. As always I am not one to DNF a book so I persisted – I’m glad I did. A bookish friend from Instagram told me that the book gets better AND IT DID. I LOVE MIA. And Mister Kindly. I can’t wait to read Godsgrave.

A Thousand Perfect Notes
2/5*

*sighs* I really wanted to enjoy this book. Everyone was raving about it. I just could not get into it. Once again this book felt massively forced, in terms of the abuse and it didn’t work for me… DON’T HATE ME. Here’s the full review.

Shores of Death (Detective Grace Macallan)
4/5*

Shores of Death was my first out of two book blog tours for June. I’m a massive fan of Crime/Thriller books, this had me hooked from the beginning. It was truly an epic read! Here’s the full review.

Just Don't Mention It (The DIMILY Series)
5/5*

THIS BOOK WAS SO PERFECT!!!! JDMI was my second blog tour book of June. I was thrilled and honoured to be chosen to read/review it. It was such a heartbreaking read that I now have to go out and read all the others! IT WAS THAT BLOODY GOOD. Full review here.

Caraval (Caraval, #1)
4/5*

So this was a difficult one and I’m not sure if I am going to change my rating from a 4 to a 3.5. Let me briefly explain why. I didn’t really like the main character, at first. She’s a massive worrier, which I am also. I have the worse anxiety, so I guess I didn’t like reading myself in the story. She was so naive which felt incredibly frustrating at times. I did love her development change towards the end, so my opinion changed. Also, there were way too many twists in the story. TOO MANY. It made my head hurt and it felt unnecessary.

However, I did like the book and will probably pick up Legendary at some point.

The Wrath & the Dawn (The Wrath & the Dawn, #1)
4/5*

It took me a while to get into this book. But once the action took off I DEVOURED this book. I already need more.

And that’s a wrap! Till next time folks!
